Manufactured in our workshop near Angers
Each planter is cut, bent and welded by hand in our workshop, near Angers.
We use Corten steel that is 2 or 3 mm thick depending on the dimensions of the planter, to guarantee a robust and perfectly rigid structure.
Each planter is manufactured bespoke and entirely welded: you receive it in a single block, ready to be installed in your garden or on your terrace.
A 37 mm rim is created on the top of the planter. This dimension can be modified on request.
Three possible configurations
Without base — for planting directly in the ground
This configuration allows you to install the planter directly on your natural ground, so that plants can develop in the soil.
Depending on the size of the planter, reinforcements can be welded in all four corners to maintain good rigidity of the planter.
With base + adjustable feet
The planter rests on small adjustable feet approximately 2 cm high, which allow it to be slightly elevated from the ground whilst remaining very discreet.
The base is perforated to allow water drainage and promote good drainage.
With base + 10 cm feet
For extra height, you can choose 10 cm square Corten steel feet. (The 10 cm should be added to the height you have chosen in the configurator.)
This configuration also allows sufficient space under the planter to move it using a pallet truck.
As with the adjustable feet version, the base is perforated to allow water drainage.
Corten steel and its patina
Corten steel: a natural patina that evolves over time
Corten steel is specially designed for outdoor use. Exposed to air and humidity, it gradually develops a surface patina that gives it its characteristic hue whilst durably protecting the metal. Its lifespan is approximately 5 times longer than that of standard steel.
Each sheet evolves differently: the shades, veining and patina development speed can vary depending on its environment. Each planter thus becomes unique.
Unless you choose the “already rusted” option, your planter will be delivered to you in its raw state (dark grey). Its patina will then form naturally once installed outdoors.
The Corten steel corrosion process takes 2 years
From 1 to 3 months: Your planter becomes covered with a yellow/orange surface patina. Be careful with wooden and concrete terraces: during this phase, rust streaks can stain your floor. To avoid this, you can choose the “already rusted” option.
From 3 to 6 months: The patina becomes darker and harder.
From 6 months to 1 year: The colour becomes uniform and the patina becomes very solid.
There are no more streaks.
From 1 to 2 years: Your planter patinas until it reaches its final colour, a more or less dark brown. Each Corten sheet is unique, and so is its colour.
How to fill your planter?
For a planter with a base, we recommend proceeding in three steps:
- Place a layer of 5 to 10 cm of draining gravel at the bottom of the tub to facilitate water drainage.
- Cover the gravel with a permeable geotextile to prevent soil from mixing with the drainage layer.
- Then fill the planter with potting soil or topsoil, depending on the planned plantings.
As the base is perforated, excess water will be able to drain naturally.
Delivery
Your order is carefully protected and packaged on a pallet to ensure transport in the best possible conditions.
Once ready, it is entrusted to our carrier, who will contact you to arrange a delivery appointment.
