Cooking surfaces tested in the laboratory
On a brazier, you cook directly on the hotplate and grill. The metal that makes them up is therefore in direct contact with your food, at high temperature.
Most braziers on the market use a seasoned carbon steel hotplate. We had this material tested by an independent laboratory: the tests revealed iron release reaching nearly 7 times the authorised limit during the test. Result: non-compliant.
Like many manufacturers, our first braziers used this material. In light of the test results, we chose to abandon it and switch to stainless steel for all our cooking surfaces.
The stainless steel used today for our hotplates and grills has also been subjected to laboratory testing and came out compliant.
This choice represents a higher manufacturing cost, but for us, it must not be compromised.
You cook with peace of mind: it’s tested, not just promised.

Other advantages of stainless steel:
– No seasoning required.
– Does not rust.
– Simplified maintenance.
A handcrafted brazier designed to last
At Nalunes, each brazier is manufactured, welded and assembled by hand in our workshop, near Angers.
We have chosen a demanding manufacturing process: thick steel, robust assemblies and careful finishing. Each brazier is made with the same objective: to offer a durable product, capable of accompanying you for many years and becoming a true place of conviviality in your outdoor space.
Two materials. Two functions.
The body of the brazier — the bowl and the unit — is manufactured from thick steel, available in Corten steel or black powder-coated steel, depending on the finish you choose.
The cooking surface — the plancha and central grill — is made from food-grade stainless steel tested in the laboratory, to offer cooking with complete confidence.
Designed to last… and to be practical
The mega Australe is composed of four removable elements: the central grill, the plancha, the bowl and the unit. This design facilitates transport, handling and maintenance.
The plancha is naturally inclined towards the centre to promote the flow of fat towards the hearth, limiting splashes and simplifying cleaning.
The unit offers three storage spaces to easily organise your wood, utensils and cooking accessories. Its large work surface allows you to prepare vegetables, meats and fish directly next to the brazier, so you have everything at hand during cooking.
Without wheels, the brazier rests on height-adjustable feet, which protect the floor and allow you to level it perfectly.
Robust manufacturing
Unlike many models on the market, the unit is entirely welded: you do not receive a flat-pack unit to assemble. This design provides greater rigidity and durability.
Dimensions and characteristics
Patina process (corten version)
Corten steel is an alloy steel to which copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus are notably added. This composition allows it to naturally develop a protective patina on the surface.
Unlike ordinary rust, this patina gradually forms a denser and more stable layer, which significantly slows down corrosion and protects the steel over time.
This is what gives Corten its unique appearance: a warm, vibrant hue that evolves over the months depending on exposure, humidity and external conditions.
Natural evolution over several months:
From 1 to 3 months: The brazier begins to be covered with a yellow/orange patina. During this phase, rust streaks may appear and stain certain sensitive floors, particularly limestone floors. We advise you to place a fire-resistant outdoor mat if this is your case.
From 3 to 6 months: The patina gradually becomes darker, more uniform and more resistant.
From 6 months to 1 year: The colour becomes uniform. The Corten layer stabilises and streaks become much rarer.
From 1 to 2 years: The brazier gradually reaches its final hue, generally orange-brown to dark brown. Each Corten sheet evolves differently: each brazier therefore has a unique patina.
Finish for the black version
For the black finish, the brazier receives different treatment depending on the parts that make it up.
Tank finish:
High temperature powder coating.
Furniture finish:
Anti-corrosion primer, then sanded black powder coating.
Powder coating consists of applying a paint powder to the steel, then placing the piece in an oven at approximately 200 °C. This baking creates a uniform, slightly textured and highly resistant coating.
On the furniture, this finish offers excellent durability over time, whilst providing an elegant and modern sanded black appearance.
The tank benefits from a powder coating adapted to high temperatures, to better withstand the use of the brazier.
What size should you choose for your brazier?
