Cooking surfaces tested in the laboratory
On a brazier, you cook directly on the plancha and the grill. The metal that comprises them is therefore in direct contact with your food, at high temperature.
Most braziers on the market use a seasoned carbon steel plancha. We had this material tested by an independent laboratory: the tests revealed iron release reaching nearly 7 times the authorised limit during the test. Result: non-compliant.
Like many manufacturers, our first braziers used this material. Faced with the test results, we chose to abandon it and switch to stainless steel for all our cooking surfaces.
The stainless steel used today for our planchas and grills has also been subjected to laboratory tests and emerged compliant.
This choice represents a higher manufacturing cost, but for us, it must not be compromised on.
You cook with peace of mind: it’s tested, not simply promised.

Other advantages of stainless steel:
– No seasoning required.
– Does not rust.
– Simplified maintenance.
A handcrafted brazier designed to last
At Nalunes, each brasero is manufactured, welded and assembled by hand in our workshop, near Angers.
We have chosen demanding manufacturing: thick steel, robust assemblies and careful finishes. Each brasero is made with the same objective: to offer a durable product, capable of accompanying you for many years and becoming a real place of conviviality in your outdoor space.
Two materials. Two functions.
The brasero body — the bowl and the cabinet — is manufactured in thick steel, available in Corten steel or black thermolacquered steel, depending on the finish you choose.
The cooking surface — the plancha and central grill — is made of food-grade stainless steel tested in the laboratory, to offer cooking with complete confidence.
Designed to last… and to be practical
The Australis is composed of four removable elements: the central grill, the plancha, the bowl and the cabinet. This design facilitates its transport, handling and maintenance.
Under the effect of heat, the plancha naturally curves towards the centre to promote the flow of fats towards the fire, thereby limiting splashing and simplifying cleaning.
The cabinet incorporates a removable shelf, allowing you to create two storage spaces, as well as a lateral support for hanging your utensils.
Without castors, the brasero rests on height-adjustable pads, which protect the floor and allow you to level it perfectly.
Robust manufacturing
Unlike many models on the market, the cabinet is entirely welded: you do not receive a flat-pack cabinet to assemble. This design provides greater rigidity and durability.
Dimensions and characteristics
Patination process (corten version)
Corten steel is an alloy steel to which copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus are added in particular. This composition allows it to naturally develop a protective patina on the surface.
Unlike ordinary rust, this patina gradually forms a denser and more stable layer, which significantly slows down corrosion and protects the steel over time.
This is what gives Corten its unique appearance: a warm, vibrant hue that evolves over the months depending on exposure, humidity and external conditions.
A natural evolution over several months:
From 1 to 3 months: The brazier begins to be covered with a yellow/orange patina. During this phase, rust streaks can appear and stain certain sensitive floors, particularly limestone floors. We recommend that you place a fire-resistant outdoor mat if this is the case.
From 3 to 6 months: The patina gradually becomes darker, more regular and more resistant.
From 6 months to 1 year: The colour becomes uniform. The Corten layer stabilises and streaks become much rarer.
From 1 to 2 years: The brazier gradually reaches its final hue, generally orange-brown to dark brown. Each Corten sheet evolves differently: each brazier therefore has a unique patina.
Finish for the black version
For the black finish, the brazier receives different treatment depending on the parts that make it up.
Bowl finish:
High-temperature powder coating.
Furniture finish:
Anticorrosion undercoat, then sanded black powder coating.
Powder coating consists of applying a paint powder to steel, then placing the part in an oven at approximately 200 °C. This baking creates a uniform, slightly textured and very resistant coating.
On the furniture, this finish offers excellent durability over time, whilst providing an elegant and modern sanded black appearance.
The bowl benefits from powder coating adapted to high temperatures, in order to better withstand the use of the brazier.
What diameter should you choose for your brazier?
Diameter: 80 cm
Approximately 15 people
The family format par excellence. It consumes little wood and can be lit easily, even for 4 or 5 guests. Ideal for regular use at home.
Diameter: 100 cm
Approximately 20/30 people
The best compromise between family comfort and large capacity. Perfect for large gatherings and private events: wedding, christening, family reunion or reception.
Diameter: 120 cm
Approximately 50/60 people
The large capacity format. It consumes more wood, but offers a generous cooking surface, suitable for professionals, caterers and restaurateurs.
