Hexagonal corten steel planter – custom-made

Quality manufacturing in corten steel, welded and assembled in our workshop near Angers.

Each tub is manufactured by hand with the greatest rigour, we use thick steel with robust assemblies.

Our products are designed to last several generations. Our first priority is customer satisfaction.

Our Corten steel planters are fully welded, you receive them as a single block.

Corten steel thickness: 2mm or 3mm (we adapt the thickness according to the size you order).

There is a 37mm wide lip on the top of the planter (customisable on request).

WITH BASE

To prevent your planter from being in direct contact with the ground, you can choose between:

– Small adjustable feet approximately 2cm in height (discreet and design)
– Square Corten steel feet 10cm in height. They allow you to move the planter easily using a pallet truck.

The bottom of the planters is perforated to allow water drainage to ensure your plants have good drainage.

WITHOUT BASE

You can choose not to have a base so you can plant your flower beds or trees directly in the ground. Reinforcements are added inside the planter at the 4 corners.

Corten steel is a modified steel to which phosphorus, copper, chromium and nickel are added.

This composition allows it to rust on the surface but never at the core. It can therefore remain outdoors for several decades without ever deteriorating.

Its lifespan is approximately 5 times greater than that of conventional steel.

Warning! : Your planter will not be delivered to you rusty (unless you have chosen the “already rusty” option). You simply need to leave it outside for it to start rusting on its own.

The corrosion process of Corten steel extends over 2 years:

– 1 to 3 months : Your planter becomes covered with a layer of superficial yellow/orange corrosion. Be careful with wooden and concrete terraces, during this phase rust streaks may stain your floor.

– 3 to 6 months : The corrosion layer becomes darker and harder.

– 6 months to 1 year : The colour becomes uniform, the rust layer becomes very solid. There are no more streaks.

– 1 to 2 years : Your planter becomes patinated until it achieves its final colour: more or less dark brown (each Corten sheet is unique, and so is its colour).

To fill your planter with a base, we recommend proceeding as follows:

1) Place a layer of draining gravel of approximately 5 to 10cm at the bottom of the planter.

2) Cover the gravel with a permeable geotextile

3) Cover with potting soil or topsoil

Your planter will be carefully wrapped on a pallet and then, once well protected, it will be entrusted to the Geodis carrier, who will deliver it to you by appointment.
