On a brazier, you cook directly on the plancha and the grill. The metal that comprises them is therefore in direct contact with your food, at high temperature.

Most braziers on the market use a seasoned carbon steel plancha. We had this material tested by an independent laboratory: the tests revealed iron release reaching nearly 7 times the permitted limit during testing. Result: non-compliant.

Like many manufacturers, our first braziers used this material. In light of the test results, we made the choice to abandon it and switch to stainless steel for all our cooking surfaces.

The stainless steel used today for our planchas and grills has also been subjected to laboratory testing and came out compliant.

This choice represents a higher manufacturing cost, but for us, it must not be compromised on.

You cook with peace of mind: it’s tested, not simply promised.

Other advantages of stainless steel:

– No seasoning required.

– Does not rust.

– Simplified maintenance.

At Nalunes, each brazier is manufactured, welded and assembled by hand in our workshop, near Angers.

We have chosen demanding manufacturing: thick steel, robust assemblies and careful finishing. Each brazier is created with the same objective: to offer a durable product, capable of accompanying you for many years and becoming a genuine place of conviviality in your outdoor space.

Two materials. Two functions.

The body of the brazier — the tank and the unit — is manufactured in thick steel, available in Corten steel or black powder-coated steel, depending on the finish you choose.

The cooking surface — the plancha and central grill — is made of food-grade stainless steel tested in the laboratory, to offer cooking with complete peace of mind.

Designed to last… and to be practical

The Pegasus is composed of four removable elements: the central grill, the plancha, the tank and the unit. This design facilitates its transport, handling and maintenance.

The plancha is naturally inclined towards the centre to promote fat drainage towards the hearth, limiting splashing and simplifying cleaning.

The unit incorporates a removable shelf, allowing you to create two storage spaces, as well as a side support for hanging your utensils.

In the version without wheels, the brazier rests on height-adjustable feet, which protect the floor and allow you to level it perfectly.

Robust manufacturing

Unlike many models on the market, the unit is fully welded: you do not receive a flat-pack unit to assemble. This design provides greater rigidity and durability.

Corten steel is an alloy steel to which copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus are notably added. This composition allows it to naturally develop a protective patina on its surface.

Unlike ordinary rust, this patina gradually forms a denser and more stable layer, which significantly slows corrosion and protects the steel over time.

This is what gives Corten its unique appearance: a warm, vibrant hue that evolves over the months depending on exposure, humidity and external conditions.

Natural evolution over several months:

1 to 3 months:
The brazier begins to be covered with a yellow/orange patina. During this phase, rust streaks may appear and stain certain sensitive surfaces, particularly limestone floors. We recommend placing a fire-resistant outdoor mat if this is the case.

3 to 6 months: The patina gradually becomes darker, more regular and more resistant.

6 months to 1 year: The colour unifies. The Corten layer stabilises and streaks become much rarer.

1 to 2 years: The brazier gradually reaches its final hue, generally orange-brown to dark brown. Each Corten sheet evolves differently: each brazier therefore has a unique patina.

For the black finish, the brazier receives different treatment depending on the parts that make it up.

Basin finish:
High-temperature powder coating.

Furniture finish:
Anticorrosion primer, then sanded black powder coating.

Powder coating consists of applying a paint powder to steel, then placing the part in an oven at approximately 200 °C. This firing creates a uniform, slightly textured and highly resistant coating.

On the furniture, this finish offers excellent durability over time, whilst providing an elegant and modern sanded black appearance.

The basin benefits from powder coating adapted to high temperatures, in order to better resist the use of the brazier.
